Visitor data
For each visitor, the web server automatically recognised the domain name only, and not the email address where that could be avoided. Email addresses were collected from those who wrote in; aggregate information was kept on which pages visitors accessed, together with details volunteered by the visitor — survey responses, site registrations, name and address, telephone number and payment information such as a card number and billing address.
Cookies
Cookies were used to record session information, including navigation within the site and the referring page. The policy stated that cookies set by the server carried no sensitive data capable of identifying an individual.
Mailings and choice
Visitors who supplied a postal address online could receive periodic mailings about new products, services or events, and both email and postal mailings could be stopped on request through the contact channels of the time.

Security
Transfers of sensitive information such as financial or health data were redirected to a secure server, and physical security measures were described as being in place to protect collected information against loss, misuse or alteration.
